    Question Looking for a recommendation

I've got a low-profile mediacenter chassis and I'm trying to choose a good graphics card. Anyone got any recommendations?
    TIA

    Whats your budget?

    PCI-E or AGP?

For PCI-E and for about £150 you could have a X1950 Pro 512 or for about £120 you could have X1950 Pro256.

    £260 would get you a 8800GTS, £400 for a GTX version.

oh and what room is there in the case, ie for the size of the card that you are allowed?

Good in what way, for gaming or other uses? I think this one could be a decent low profile card for use with HDTV's etc http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=462640 but the 1600 Pro isn't the strongest for 3d performance if that is what you are after.

Budget - I'd prefer under £200, probably won't be gaming with this box - I'm really building a pvr with XP MCE. Outputs WILL need s-video, and ideally HDMI for future proofing. Bus is PCI-E 16, no agp slot. I need a half-height card but I've got a fair amount of room I can leave next to it in the case, on the left, viewing towards the case from the inside, if you see what I mean...

So mainly tv, dvd work, bit of 'ordinary' lounge-computing, email, web etc. I've got my Dell XPS1710 for gaming on. Not the ultimate, but good.

Found the 1600 earlier doing a general search - manufacturers data say it's NOT low-profile though - I guess the bracket is the problem. Which is fixable with a bit of gentle metalwork...

Thanx - that give me a couple of alternatives, choice will depend on interfaces on new TV. I guess the HDMI would be better for future-proofing, but at that price I can always change the card later if I need to.

... Is good but the 128Bit memory interface could be a bottleneck.

Am still hunting for the best low profile PCIe graphics card. Nvidia wise seems to be the 7300 series but thats pants. Any one have any other inspiration?
