Hi,
I'm considering stuffing a 8800GTX into a shuttle SN26P. According to Shuttle, they certify it with the Leadtek model.

Are all current 8800GTXs just using the reference design? If so, I'd prefer to save a few quid and go for the Pallit:

I believe they are, and because of this switched my order with SCAN from and ASUS to Palit and saved £60 (plus the Palit was in stack, ASUS not at the time last week).
Edit: This seems to confirm this - Yes they are all basically the same, so go for the Palit as I did!

They are except for the XFX XXX version which has a higher core speed and memory speed, however its a lot more £££. Circa £500. Scan have them in staock though.
And the EVGA overclocked version and the Gainward overclocked version :p
There's no point buying an overclocked version: just overclock the standard one unless you're particularly worried about the warranty (which I'm sure you could still RMA after anyway)
I think the card design is equal, but the better-overclocking chips are handed to XFX/eVGA/Gainward at a higher price so that they could sell XXX / Ultimate version.
I would say that means XFX/eVGA/Gainward's normal card will likely to be less overclockable (because they picked all the good one for selling at higher price)
They are all currently made by Flextronics - then sold to the AIB.
Some of which are then speed binned by the AIB - such as eVGA or whoever :)
Then some slap a different cooler (or cooler cover on) and then sell at a premium
It depends if you want to risk it yourself.
I'm sure most of them will no doubt get a reasonable overclock :)
... They all have "generic" bios' atm
I've read Palit are the only company nvidia allow to buy just the core gpu chip, so they do get to go elsewhere for their memory chips, hence always being cheaper.

yeah my Palit 7950gt has faster samsung memory than the reference board and was about 20 quid cheaper than the others.
I've seen a review of the palit 8800 gtx and it had samsung memory chips on it :O_o1:Quote:

NVIDIA "still" uses GDDR3 memory with 1.1ns cycle time which should be good for about 900 MHz. Having 768 MB of GDDR4 on the card would be excessively expensive for only rather small gains. Not to mention that ATI keeps buying all GDDR4 stock.
