    Compatibility problem ???

I recently upgraded my GeForce 5500 graphics card to a Radeon X 1300 Pro. (AGP) With this card plugged into the Agp slot the computer is unstable. The screen goes black and sometimes hangs, usually at a mouse click to change a window. Can anybody tell me if maybe I have a faulty card or a compatibility problem I can overcome. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-K8VNXP with an AMD 3200 64 bit processor. Any help will be gratefully recieved, Thanks.

Did you use Driver cleaner to clean all the NVIDIA drivers before you installed the ATI

I bought the motherboard and cpu as a pair to build my first computer and the ATI was the first card to be fitted. I already had the Nvida card to fit but bought the new card as an upgrade b4 it was built. Being a bit green, I was having all sorts of problems when I first loaded windows and to remove the ATI and try the Nvida was a last hope. That cured the problem and all has been fine. I have a second computer running XP and have just tried the ATI in that and it works fine so it looks like a conflict in the new machine. How do I clean all the drivers as you sugest to give it a try anyway. Thanks for your help.

Driver cleaner can be found here

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/U...essional.shtml

Uninstall what drivers you want then reboot into safe mode, run driver cleaner and select which filter to apply for which driver you are trying to clean, once all clean reboot and reinstall drivers.

I would suggest as well that you install the drivers in the following order

    Motherboard Drivers - Reboot
    Display Drivers - Reboot
