Gfx dilemma

Is it worth me paying £155 for a 2nd hand X1950XTX instead of buying a new 7950GT for £170 ?

Anyone know what the warranty xfer is like on ATI cards ?

Or should I not get either and save up for a 8800GTS ?

I really dont want to wait as I am keen to buy a new C2D setup in the next couple of weeks.

The second hand 1950xtx is a good buy.

But your choice should probably be between the second hand 1950XTX and a new 1950XT for about £10 more. The XT is better than the 7950GT.

If you are getting the system in a few weeks, check the 8800 prices then, as they may have dropped a bit.

There will always be the arguament that "Next week there will always be something new, so I want it now", but in this instance I think that you'd be better off waiting.

Even if the need to support DX10 (from the first gen of cards) is not a requirement, there's a new set of cards due out real soon with a cheaper version of the 8800. Even if they're still outside your price range, there's bound to be a knock on effect to older cards.

So, I'd say wait and save up for an 8800.

yes there will always be something new, that doesn't mean go for the stuff now, not if you know somethings coming round the corner thats way better and maybe if you cant afford it, it will drop your current item of choice down in price. XTX is up there with the GTS I think, its a really good card. although the 8800's are good and if you can muster another £100 then you can get a GTS with the special offer scan has going on right now.
