    mid range suggestions?

my friend is in the line for a good midrange graphics card. the 5900SE/XT doesnt seem to be around yet so he's thinking between the 5700ultra and the 9600XT

anyone have a good recommendation between these? and a preference for manufacturer?

    cheers

Currently I have a preference for ATi as they don't slack on the pixel shader support etc...

Without knowing a great deal currently about the 5700u I would out if nature recommend the 9600XT anyway. It certainly appears as if the ATi core will last you a little longer with the upcoming titles.

why not try 9800se AIW, the price is a bit high but u got 20% chance of making it 9800pro. If not, you have the 9600XT and the AIW feature. Seems a fair bet to me

yeah the SE is an option but he doesn't need the AIW features. so no votes for the 5700U

i heard the 9600XT has better DX9 performance is this so?

oh and what manufactuer is the way forward?
