Any numbers from AMD 2600/2400's yet?

After the dissapointing performace of the Nvidia 8600/8500 cards, I'm hoping AMD/ATI will bring something good to the midrange sector.

I've had to return my X1600XT and I'm awaiting a refund, so I'm lightly browsing for a replacement (I've got onboard and I'm not going to be around much in the next couple of months to play).

There'a a couple of pics out there of cards, but I'm after finding out whether there's going to be a X1950Pro/7900GS £100 beater. I can hold off till there release, but is it going to be worth it? I guess the prices of old cards will only go down so there's nothing to lose in waiting, but if AMD can't take the midrange sector with their new cards after flopping the top end they're going to regret buying up ATI.

You really can't go wrong with a 1950pro for £90sih delivered. It's a seriously nice card, runs Supreme Commander for me @ 1400x1050 res very nicely even in big 6 player games.

Aye they do seem like a very good card atm. Good choice of coolers for them in retail as well. Going to be a tough job beating it.

From the little I've found so far, the 2600XT looks to be around 5-10% faster than the 8600GTS. So about 10% slower than an X1950Pro.

The only reason for getting a mid range DX10 card is for DX10 capability which the 1950 doesn't have.

Yup, but also there are no games that use it either.

Also from things like Lost Planet it would appear DX10 performance will be so awfull on those cards they're a waste of money.
