I was about to post up a pic of it. has some info here too.
OEM XTX version 12.4 Inches and retail XTX 9.5 Inches.
That's one massive bit of kit.

    other pic...

On a side note.. This 8 pin power thing is a little worrying. I've seen a pic and the card ahs a 6 pin pci-e connection and a 8 pin oen next to it.. it's gonna eat power like nothing before by the looks.

In that pic above, isnt there 2 x 6 pin PCI-E and then 2x 3 pin fan connectors?

Nothing new, Dell had a 7800gtx like that and no doubt others too. Looks like ATI have just taken advantage of it and put a fan on.

so the R600XTX is going to be huge because of some weird proprietary fitting method? its obvious the back of the card doesn't need to be there

OEM will be for system builders only so won't be for the channel (Ie the likes of us). We will be getting the 9.5in version which is roughly X1900 sized.

It's just to support the card - Dell's used them in their high-end gaming systems. That's the reason the OEM is reported to be 12.4" and the retail 9.5". Good stuff to see ATi actually taking advantage of the OEM extra size, as Dark Horse said!

It's not a proprietary fitting at all - it's called 'full length' and it just means rather than only connecting at the back of the card it slots in at the front and the back into ATX sized cases with that in mind (eg OEM cases). It reduces the pressure on the PCI-E connection and can even add rigidity to the case (like the 7800gtx pictured).

This is only the version for system builders. Retail ones are shorter.
