What's happening with VIVO now?

I currently have an AGP ATI 9800Pro AIW card with VIVO and as I'm moving into the modern world of PCI-E I want to replace it.

Problem is, I can't seem to find any really up to date VIVO cards. Are they still made or do people use additional cards for that now?

As far as I can see, The HIS Turbo and Sapphire Ultimate versions of the x1950Pro have VIVO.

Thanks for that, certainly looks interesting but will I notice a problem with no DX10 support (if I ever move to Vista)?

I was reading an article where some industry expert reckoned on it taking 12-18 months before programmers get a proper handle on DX10...

You'll notice a problem, in that you wont be able to run dx10 games and this card will never be able to run dx10 games!! Its to do with hardware, not software (i.e. drivers).

Still dx9 is the way to go if you upgrade regularly as dx10 games are a while off and no current cards are proven at dx10. If you dont upgrade often, then you might want to consider the 8800GTS in 640mb and 320mb versions. They go for £185 to £250 ish.

or rather and far more accurately. you wont be able to take advantage of the DX10 features in games that have them. they will still work tho. like games right now that are "DX9 games" still work with DX8 Hardware

i read somewhere that DX10 was so far ahed of DX9 a lot of games wont support earlier DX9 at all. I assume this is rubbish but...

yeah thats rubbish. halflife2 goes all the way back to directx 7. game makers want as many people as possible to be able to play, even if it means giving the options to turn off the fancy stuff. and taking out the use of anything below dx10 would be suicide basically
