    well i have heard that a 9800se is soft modable on some 9800se cards so u i think that would be a better option!

    Yeh, thats why im unsure if I should risk getting the 9800se, or getting a safe 9600XT

    I have heard lots of peeps say the 9800se is fatser @ staock speeds on IRC but havent seen the benchmarks.

    It depends, there are two versions of the 9800SE and you hasve to be careful when you buy:
    One version has 128bit memory and this doesnt soft mod at all ever....
    Other version has 256bit memory and you *might* get this to softmod bit is generally as fast as a 9600XT.

    get an 9800se_AIW. onlny one version + tv stuff makes choosig little easyer...
    aobut 60% should softmod iirc...

    yeah, the debate is slightly swung by the Sapphire 9800 SE not having the AIW capabilities - it's considerably cheaper though, too.

    I believe the usual answer is to grab a 9800 SE AIW from Evesham

    The sapphire non AIW, IIRC, is 128bit, in which case it has no chance of soft modding anyway. Go for a Herc 9800SE AIW or Sapphire 9800Pro from Komplett.

    Actually, the 128 bit ones will softmod, they kinda turn into a radeon 9500pro with an R350 chip.
