Burning a several videos to dvd with menu

    Hi guys,

I have several home videos (in .avi) that i would like to put on one dvd, that can be played on a standalone dvd player. as well as having a menu incorporated to select the video.

I downloaded "avi2dvd" and tried one, it made the one file 3gb's.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a method to put a dvd together in this way.

    Thanks
    Will.

If you're ok going for paid for software then I use nero which has passable dvd creation app. It can create a simple menu structure with a background image and music.

If this is a one off job then a trial software may do the trick

Nero will do it, but i think you need to buy the full blown suite, either that or the MPEG-2 pluging (perhaps even both)

Or have a look at http://www.doom9.org/ there is loads of information there about ripping DVDs, but i'm sure i've seen DVD creation tools and articles on there too.

I use VSO's ConvertXToDVD, it's very good and easy to use:

second on convertxtodvd, I use it for quick and dirty, very simple interface and suprisingly quick. Use it for converting my xvid Lost episodes to DVD for the parents

If I want something more complex it depends on the source format, eg Cyberlink PowerDirector/Producer for my JVC camcorder due to stupid format

Using the guides here and the software linked to, you can do it all with free/opensource software. Might not be as polished as the commercial alternatives.
