Nero and DVD writing
Right, got a little problem when running/burning a cd/dvd using Nero.
Basically it makes my pc as slow as a slug plus also seems to drop my internet speed which is a pain in the butt. I can't even listen to my music when data is being burned.
Verion is Nero 7 and the DVDRW is a Sony DVDRW DW-Q28A
System spec is below. Surely it can't be right with an e6600 cpu.
At first i thought it could have been due to a high overclock on my CPU so i put it back on stock and same things happen.
Any help would be nice

Hey,
What is the CPU usage like in task manager when you are burning? And do you have any Starforce-enabled games installed by any chance?

Hello,
I recently installed my computer and so no i don't have any games installed at the moment.
Seems to be a dodgey drive as i have just bought a SATA drive and for some reason its working fine and dandy.
CPU usuage was like 50% constant though which did my nut it as it kept bringing the computer to a halt.
Still want to fix the problem as i'll be using this drive as a secondary

I had similar problems on my 965 because the PATA drive was running in PIO mode, so I bought a SATA optical drive which cured the problem, however I didnt think that problem, lack of native PATA, affected 975 users.

Here's a random list of stuff that comes to mind (I'm sure you've tried a lot of this already though!):
~ Try another burning app (Windows built-in recorder, or Infra Recorder which is free and pretty good).
~ Check device manager and see what mode the DVD writer is running in.
~ Check the firmware of the drive. Google for any known issues with it and re-flash to a newer version.
~ Try burning a different brand of CD/DVD.
~ Try connecting the drive to another IDE connector, or use a SATA converter and hook it up to a SATA port.
~ Check the jumper on the back of the drive... make sure the setting corresponds to how it is connected on the IDE channel.
Thats all I can think of for now! Hope some of that is helpful :)
