I'm having trouble hooking up my TV to be my second monitor..

I've just got a new telly, and I've come to hook it up to my computer (a VGA cable going into a VGA -> DVI converter). It all works fine up until I reach the Welcome Screen (I'm on XP SP2), at which point the TV goes back to 'No Signal', and my monitor works fine.

I've tried swapping my monitor and TV around in the plugs, aswell as just having the TV plugged in when I turn it on, but I've had no luck.

Help me, you clever devils, and I'll love you until I stop caring.

sounds like the current setting might be above what ur new TV can display. Set it to 800x600 or 1024x768 and try again, also drop the refresh rate to 60 as sometimes that can throw things even tho it doesnt directly effect LCDs (I am assuming u have an LCD TV)

Yeah, it's an LCD.

I've just tried that, and it's not made a difference.

have you tried to enable multiple displays with the forceware driver utility in the control panel, nView I fink.

another thing, if ur LCD has DVI (white connector) and ur pc only has RGB (blue connector) while u can go from PC DVI-to-RGB Monitor I dont think it works the other way round, PC RGB-to-DVI monitor

I've tried the nView thing, that didn't work either.

Same with plugging it straight into the RGB port, but that didn't work either.
