    what do you think guys??

I got the chance to buy a laptop off my mate, for a decent price just wondering if you think its worth it..

    Dell XPS M1710

    17" wide
Intel ® Core™ Duo Processor T2600 (2.16 GHz, 667 MHz FSB) DUAL CORE
    7900 gtx 512
    80 gig sata 7200 rpm.
2048 MB Dual Channel DDR2 Memory 667 MHz

looks like one of those flashy ones :d,

now is that worth 830, in good condition just one scratch on it.

    would you??

Sounds good to me. The dell warranty on Xps is second to none 24/7 even for game related problems. I'm currently using an xps m1210 & absolutely delighted with it wouldn't swap it for any other laptop.
    Digitizer.........

umm if i remember rightly, a Core 2 duo is dual core, the Core Duo is single core because one of the cores is faulty so they disable it. But this allows them to sell faulty units as such.

You don't remember correctly. Even slightly.

The Core Duo is essentially a dual-core Pentium M. Really, really, really low power consumption (quite a bit less than a Core 2 Duo even), though obviously not as fast. That said, the Pentium M was a very viable alternative to the Athlon 64s due to their great overclocking performance. The only thing that restricted their popularity was the lack of chipset and motherboard support, obviously being a notebook format shoe-horned into a desktop.

I've got one in my HTPC, and spent £200 2nd hand from the Hexus.classifieds for just the motherboard and CPU.

It's not really a match for the C2D, but think of it as the base for it.

What you're thinking of Metier9, will be the CoreSolo I'd imagine.

You are paying a large premium for the graphics, do you really want to play games on a laptop?

If not, you can pick up a C2D system with better specs for about 600.
