    Hard drive woe!!

    I really need your help guys, for I am truely stumped.

    Basically I recieved my hdd when i built my first rig about 6 months back, it is a western digital 250gb (i think it is the WD2500KS)

    Anyhow, when i first saw the capacity, it was only half-full, only 127gb showing up, before asking for a replacement, i went into admin options and saw the was the other half of the capacity that I just had to format. So ever since then I have had 2 partitions.

    Now, i recently booted up and it said D:/ was corrupt or unreadable and when i checked it in admin options it had been wiped clean, quite annoyed but i ddidnt mind in the end as i had backed up a large amount of data.

    So i decided to reformat the drive and reinstalled xp..

    ..BUT NOW, it isnt showing up at all! only 127gb is there, i ran chkdsk, partition magic, and in the admin tools! where has half my drive gone!!

    pleeeease help

    It's an operating system/bios limitation that's easy to solve. For example;

    right click on "my computer" select "manage" select "disk management" and look for your missing space - allocate it a drive number and voila it should be there for you in explorer

    Actually it's 32-bit LBA, or rather lack of 48-bit support, I believe. The original XP didn't quite have it...
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
