Resolution wont go to correct setting..

Well my PC broke and i wasnt sure what it was so i sent it into a PC repair show and all was fine and it works great apart from the problem that the screen resolution is wrong.

my 19" monitors resolution used to be at 1280x1024 and is now set to 127?x7?? (cant remember) and everything i blurry and squashed.

when i got to controll panel to put back to what it shoud be i get monitor blakness wth "video mode not supported",

The thing that the shop did was replace the MOBO from a GIGABYTE something to the WINFAST one they put in. all other components are the same and i plugged the monotor into the GFX card not onboard.

im gussing they repaired windows when they had it and i havnt since, (monotor not fully recognised) could this the problem?

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.

also having problems connecting to the internet on it aswell, thats mainly because aol sucks and the thing they use to select devices to connect is near imposible unless you made the programme.

Its a BT voyager 105 peice of junk

Well , the 105 is a simple device that should not give you a lot of trouble. If you can't connect to aol then did your repair people put the software for aol back in . i.e .the aol broadband software. Also as 'FABULA' said 'it looks as though they have not 'loaded' the correct driver for your graphics card .

I have AOL broadband I find just simply doing this works most of the time...

Before you enter your password etc when you have opened aol do this:

click sign on options > advanced broadband settings > continue

Now for the drop down box saying "you are currently editing setting for" select whichever option isnt called "broadband" and "add a profile"

and then select delete current profile

Now go to add a profile and call it whatever you want

Now go to the drop down box with connection type above and select AOL Broadand Connection

This always does the job for me when it refuses to sign on


As for the monitor do you have a model number for it? Perhaps you have a cd it came with?
I am thinking it needs installing so your system can detect it properly

Got it all fixed now,

1. put the driver for gfx onto flaspen then downloaded onto PC

2. Stupidly realised that i had plugged it into the modem but the phone line side was left out!! lol
