    PC struggles on bootup

    Hi

On bootup after a long (5+ hours) of inactivity, my PC fails to boot fully.

it's current boot sequence is press power, then the base will flash an sound normal, but nothing will be displayed on the monitor. The monitor's LED will go green as if it is receiving a signal.

Leave this for about 5 minutes, and it will boot into windows.

This has come on over the last few weeks, and no hardware changes have been made. as previously the boot was as soon as the power button was switched on.

    Key specs are

    CPU - Intel 6400
    MoBo - AsRock ConRoeXFire
    Gfx - XFX Geforce 7900GT
    Monitor - Viewsonic VP930

    Thanks for any suggestions

    Re: PC struggles on bootup

At what point does it take the longest? Does it have a black screen for 5 mins then start as normal or does it just take 5 mins loading on the windows logo etc?

It will sit for 5 mins, before loading into windows, ie. logo etc, when it's booted up, wits fine, and acts totally normal.

have you tried cleaning out the fans inside your PC case, i had a problem like this once that was caused by the lil graphics card fan not spinning properly...

    hope that helps

Yep, since this started I have given the whole case a de-dust, this has made no difference, re-seate the card, no difference either
