    Losing internet connection in IE

Please help me with this (very frustrating) problem.

I am having a problem that IE in Vista keeps telling me that there is a problem with my internet connection. Sometimes it can be repaired by windows, other times it cannot and I must restart the computer and reset the router. It happens regularly and consistently after a few minutes of use.

The strange thing is, even when IE says I have no connection, Bittorrent plods along, happily downloading whatever is in its queue...obviously there is a connection there. I can also play Quake etc with no problems.

Windows diagnoses this problem as something different each time, sometimes it refers to the DNS being unreachable, sometimes it tries to refresh my (static) IP address, sometimes it says it is a problem it cannot fix.

Any suggestions anyone before i throw it out of the window???

Long shot buddy, but is your connection with bt? If it is a had a very similar problem with em, eventually got the homehub replaced and that cured it for me, try contacting your isp to see if they are having problems in the area

It is with BT as it happens. I have already had a replacement Home Hub C950 off them cos the first one was d.o.a.

I have spoken to them and they insist there is no problem at their end with my connection...surely they cannot have sent me another faulty hub??? Also, their customer service is crap, i'm fed up of talking to someone who barely speaks English and seems to know less about whats going on than me.

I might buy a decent one and see if that sorts it out, the ones they are using are obviously crap, I don't have to go through the agony of their customer service then either.

    Cheers Sharky!
