do you think this would do the trick with a air gun attached to it?

ebay sell airbrush compressors with small tanks on them to build up the pressure, that POS would blast air for about 1 second and lose the balls to blow a feather

the ones with tanks are empty within 20-30 seconds of letting rip at full PSI, brought one at the last place i worked at. glad i didnt get the tankless one as the one with tank only just does the job.

If you're going to use a vacuum cleaner I'd disconnect all the fans from the motherboard including the northbridge cooler. I've heard if they start spinning the wrong way fast enough they can generate a negative charge and damage components on the motherboard. I use an artists brush with natural bristles and lungpower, I end up covered in dust looking like a very furry Rolph Harris.

I cant believe im reading this..

But what we do at work is just get a powerfull hoover in there never had a problem in a years worth of machines, oh and a toothbrush if its really bad, dont waste your money on air dusters, when in reality you want the dust gone not moved

Wow, I didn't realise this thread was still going since I started it a while back. Thankyou all for your contributions. I did buy a can of compressed air which worked quite nicely although it does nothing for fine layers of dust deposited on components. I think a (shaving) brush might be necessary as someone has suggested.

Make sure the plug of the pc is plugged in witht he switch off.
Touch your hand to the pc case, unplug the fans and turn on the hoover.
Make sure the hose of the hoover all the time throughout the cleaning process touches the case throughout the process to make sure any current goes down the case and to the earth.
