PC Monitor Out Of Frequency Error

Hi peeps,

I keep getting a problem that has baffled me and is getting more of a pain.

My PC will boot up without any errors and you see the BIOS then Windows XP loading screen no problem. Then when it is about to show the "Welcome" screen with users on I get "Out Of Frequency 39.2Khz 62.7hz".

I have changed my graphics drivers, downsized my resolution and refresh rate but still get the error.

I am using 2 Palit 7300GT Sonic PCI-e in SLi. Each at stock speed, no overclocking. Monitor is a Daewoo 17" TFT, model HL711A. Currently set at 1280 x 960, 32bit Colour Quality, 60hz refresh.

The reason this is causing more of a problem is that usually it will disappear after approx 2 to 3 seconds and show the "Welcome" screen as normal, but recently it has just been hanging there and need me to reboot.

Any help I would be grateful for.

if you hit F8 just before windows boots, and choose the 'Enable VGA mode', it should boot up at 640x480 @ 60hz or so...

There must be some issue with the settings of the TFT... The correct resolution for that Monitor is 1280x1024... make sure that it is set to this, rather than 1280x960 and see how you get on

Thats the resolution I had before, hence why I downsized it. The "Enable VGA Mode" shows no error, but my screen flickers, and you can see an error message outline, but as flickers too quickly unable to see what it says and will not boot into.

I have tried 3 different drivers so far for the GFX cards.

Also Windows shows my monitor as a default monitor.

are you using the latest nvidia drivers? or the ones built in to XP?

I've used the following versions,
91.31 Dated 01-06-06
91.47 Dated 11-08-06
93.71 Dated 22-10-06

Currently Im using 91.31 as these seem to be more stable, ie they let me into Windows.

Get the same error message on all of them. I havent tried the Beta drivers that Nvidia currently has out.
I have also checked in Device Manager and that both gfx cards are using the same driver version.

I have also tried to switch the gfx cards round as both identical and have recently done a clean install.

Just loaded 94.24, the latest drivers available on Nvidia and still get the same error.

I followed the hints on the Nvidia site and disconnected from the net as it wanted me to disable my antivirus (says sometimes this messes there updates) and to also uninstall all prev drivers. I did this and Windows rebooted using generic drivers (not for the 7300GT, more like basic VGA) and no error message came up when going into Windows.

I then installed the 94.24 drivers and straight away got the error back once Windows had installed them to the 2 gfx cards.

Still a puzzle what is happening. I have currently set resolution to 1280 x 1024. All is ok when in Windows, its just sometimes wont get into it.
