Unhappy Bit of a weird one... thoughts please?!

Right, so I was installing UT yesterday so I could spend a day playing it. I'd just got to the last patch and did a reboot, as you do when installing a huge amount of stuff.

    This is the weird bit...

PC Posts, boots and then starts to load windows... and keeps loading windows... and keeps loading windows.

so I rebooted, and it does the whole "windows didn't shut down properly" so I try to select the "last known good config" but I can't get my keyboard to work. It now won't recognise the keyboard at all so I can't get into BIOS, Safe Mode or anything.

I don't think my HDD's are fried as they're both recognised and spinning up etc

I'm gonna try another keyboard today, but what's the general consensus?

    Typical windows b*ll*cks.

If it was me i would bang another keyboard in. go into windows in safe mode and try getting rid of UT. Reboot windows and then update all drivers etc and try UT again

    MY keyboard was a ps2/usb

I've now plugged an old skool ps2 in and everything is fine now, I doubt it was the UT install as it's been on this system before.

Problem solved, panic averted.... now need to spen £25 on a kew keyboard instead of £400 on a new rig... phew.

Thanks for your viewpoints guys, just like to make sure I'm thinking along the same lines.

    Happy easter - Tigs

(on a very old PS2 non-ergonomic keyboard, but with a booting pc!)

Yeah, already got one on order....

My mouse is on the way out too, they're 7 years old so it's about time! ( I got the original natural bundle!)

P.S I hate straight keyboards, this one sucks!

Yes once you get used to the ergonomic ones there is no going back. I have just bought a new one as the wrist rest on my old one is full of bomb holes(missus not pleased).

Yeah, I posted those keyboards here a while back, the pack is a briliant deal. The mouse is surprisingly good despite the lack of back and forward buttons though. The magnify button can be reprogrammed for more useful stuff

Mine is just generally grotty. It's been through Uni with me and served me well. I've got a "Microsoft comfort" keyboard at work, which is sort of a straight/ergo hybrid but i can feel my rsi returning already with this one, it's so un-natural.

I didn't realise the mouse didn't have back and forward buttons... that's a bit worrying. Ah there's life in the ol' intellimouse yet. I'll have to look out for some good deals on mousies. (spare one for the lappy methinks)
