what is AB221BD2.exe ??

Hi, dose anyone heard of this file ? It first showed up after the system crashed, due to heavy workload. It's apparently in C:\WINDOWS\System32\AB221BD2.exe, but when i search the system32 folder, it's no where to be found, so i can't even do a direct scan on it. (yes i have show hidden file allowed)

It shows up as a service in msconfig, and in the service control panel too. It has no description/dependencies either. I've also ran various ad-ware sniffers/spyware scanners/anti-virus progs/program pin id checkers/root-kit detectors, and non of them could see it.

could possibly be a virus. there sneaky like that

Well actually i was wondering if any of the experienced tech wizards at hexus could confirm a theory i have, which might put the whole mater to rest.

Could this file just be like the windows dumprep file, which also appears after a crash, but just with a wacky name ? kinda like a dump file for another application or something.

I'm hoping it's that, as if the file is actually a result of why i started doing intensive system scanning in the first place, then thats not a good sign.

Have you also got "protected operating system files" set to show too ? If it is a virus, it might hide as one of these, and just showing "hidden system files" may not do it.

Disable the service for now and see if you notice any application problems afterwards. It certianly isn't a well known application as there is nothing about it indexed in Google at all.
