    Bizzare Outlook 2007 Problem

    Hi there


    I seem to be having a strange problem with my spam filter
    I'm running Outlook 2007 but basically I'm getting emailed from my regular contacts who I email every day but outlook is adding the words {spam?} in the title line of all my emails that I'm now recieving (even thought its not spam and these people are all allowed and in my safe list and have been for 6 months!)

    I've trawled the net trying to find an answer but I'm on my own, its impossible to find any help with the words Spam in the title sadly.

    I can even send a mail from myself to myself and that comes up as spam, all emails are allowed in safe sender and safe recipient but I just don't know why this is happening.

    Its really annoying to have to reply to each email and manually delete the word spam out twice, once from the subject line then once from the body of the email.

    I've been through all the options, you can't actually turn the junk filter off or disable it, I thought it might be my bitdefender antispam but its not because I unintalled it.

    The weird thing is sometimes its ok and won't flag it as spam other times it not, theres nothing wrong with these emails either.

    I would do anything to stop this, I get around 500 emails a day and each one has to be manually edited.

    Just wondered if anyone had come across this issue, really do need some help here or to be pointed in the right direction

    get thunderbird? On a more serious note, could this be a problem with your email server? Do you use your ISP's account? Whatever you use, might be work checking if they have a spam filter and what kind of options it is currently set to..

    its not the isp I've check all the settings and there are no filters or anything like that.

    I looked at Thunderbird but I really need the Outlook suite as its for business sadly.

    short of reinstalling Office I don't know what to do

    does outlook connect directly to your ISP via pop3 ?

    can you connect to your ISP webmail and see if the mails are titled similarly there ?

    I havent actually set webmail up yet
    I use a2 hosting

    I beleive it does connect directly

    I will have a go at setting it up and see what happens

    Well Ive just sent myself 3 emails tried to log on to the webmail program and there were no emails there ??

    I then went to my outlook and all 3 emails came through straight away all with {spam?} before my titles.

    Looks like webmail isn't working

    Tagging the title isn't an outlook thing , its much much more likely the spam assasin setup by your hosts.

    I've got a few options from my servers control panel

    Boxtrapper Spam
    Email filtering

    but there are no filters and Boxtrapper is disabled ?

    Ask your friends/colleagues etc to send a blank email to you.

    Outlook 2007 will actually enact it's SPAM filter before looking at your safe list (!).

    The SPAM filter checks the content of the email against what MS deems to be SPAM and then allocates it as SPAM as necessary.

    Fortuantely most of the emails are re-directed to your inbox as they are classified as 'safe' by you. But you may be losing some in the Junk Folder > so check in there regularly.

    Just found this hmmmmmmmmmmm

    MailScanner Configuration:

    [1] Enable scanning of emails for spam
    [2] Action to perform on email likely to be spam but may contain false-positives
    [3] Action to perform on email almost definitely spam
    [4] Enable scanning of emails for viruses
    [5] Deliver virus infected email that has been cleaned

    Email Black/Whitelist settings Other settings

    Current Settings:
    Domain Spam Scanning Low Scoring Spam High Scoring Spam Virus Scanning Deliver Cleaned Emails
    *********no Deliver Deliver no yes
    [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]


    Change Individual Domain Settings:
    Domain Spam Scanning Low Scoring Spam High Scoring Spam Virus Scanning Deliver Cleaned Emails



    Please note that changes made here are implemented every: 10 minutes. You can continue to make changes while waiting for your settings to come into effect.

    Guys I just wanted to say a big thank you

    You were right it was my ISP, I changed the above settings and it worked

    Thanks so much If you had not suggested it I would have reintalled windows and office and probably thrown my laptop out but your expertise was just great.
