Machine Hardware resets in the middle of BlackHawk Down

    hi all,

I've been playing blackhawk down (with the latest updates) on a windows XP SP2 + latest patches system

It has 2 gig or Ram paired Blaistix, in an Asus AV8 Rev 2 board (with latest Bios) and an Fx 55 CPU. The Graphics card is an Nvidia BFG 6600GT OC

I can play the game for a random time then the game freezes and the hardware resets.

Any advice on debugging this ? tools etc ?

Any patches you think I need ?

Not really urgent but I'd like to fix it
    It is Inevitable.....

Did you try running your 6600gt at stock and seeing if it still crashes?

how can I alter it to stock ? I've not altered it after I took it out of the box.

I've tried a few other graphicly intensive games, such as GP4 and it run faultless.

The OC in the cards name is suggestive that it's overclocked.

Not by you, but all of BFG's OC range is factory overclocked.

You could try to play around with timing and settings with overclocking software, but I would contact BFG.

They have incredible customer service, and in the U.S, they offer 24 hour, 7 days a week support. (Not very useful anywhere else, but still very reassuring)

Not only that, but their products offer a lifetime warranty.

I would at least send them an email before trying anything else.

Presumably you have auto-restart on system-stop turned off?

    ok,

I'll mail BFG, them seem to have a stunning rep which is one of the reason I bought the card.

I'll run mem test for an hour or so, but I can't see if being memory because other memory intensive/swapping processes run fine on the machine for days, I find it more likley to be some sort of illegal instruction set as its only on black hawk down.

yamangman - no idea what your on about, I only boot into windows for the odd game here and there so what ever the default is really.

    thanks all

Ok, open up system properties, advanced tab, settings button under startup and recovery options and uncheck automatically restart. Play BHD again until the crash.

BHD used to be the cause of many a system crash when I played it. Some evil blue screen. The only game to cause it, on my system
