CPU and PSU Problem
Hello people,
I have a very strange problem though i don't understand why it happens.
Firstly, the CPU. When either on stock or overclocked, it starts hissing. Anyone know why?
For starters, i know its not the motherboard as my cpu kept hissing in my old Asus.
As with the overclocking, i have been asked whether it could be voltages too high... but running at 3.6Ghz, its 12hr prime stable using 1.5v on water.
Could it be a dodgey chip? or is this just a general problem some people have or still has.
Lastly the PSU. I use a Enermax Galaxy 1Kw and according to the manual; if the computer shuts down randomly, the power guard features turn on. The PSU will show a red LED and sound 2 beeps. It says the result would be 'Powerguard Active'.
Originally, i thought my PSU had died somehow.. but upon booting up, it was fine. It would only shut off if i botted into windows with my CPU overclocked - even if the speed is prime stable, it seems the Enermax doesn't like it.
Anyone had any of these problems before... and know what to do next?
Either RMA my PSU (though i doubt Enermax will do anything) or just buy another e6600 CPU?
And before you ask, i can't rma the CPU as its been lapped... however this would not be the problem with the hissing. It hissed before it was lapped too.
Edit: I just realised, my cpu hisses gradually gets louder, the more i overclock it

Ring enermax and tell them, they are really good when it comes to customer service and if they suspect its a fault with your PSU, they will swap you one out. Some PSUs have a problem with some Asus boards where they wont start properly. My original galaxy had that problem, and also, there was a squeaking problem with the Asus commando board.
Have you tried a different graphics card? XT/XTX cards quite often make odd noises.
Also, asus motherboards can make a squeaking noise which comes from the copper coils on them.
My money is on the graphics card though.
Either way, ring enermax and see what they say.
If you want to send me the cpu, I will test it for you :)
