    optical drive help please!!!

    hi guys,

    got a pc here that knows there is a CD drive present, but doesnt find it in my computer at all..

    Now the drive is in device manager with a yellow exclamation mark next to it, not to be confused with the question mark relating to missing drivers..

    i have tried numerous IDE drives and the same thing, today i tried a SATA dvd drive and still the same thing.. any ideas on this guys?

    as above have tried this and even tried a sata cd drive and still the same..

    Don't know what IDE slot you are using for the cd rom but I assume that you have tried the other one (assuming again that you have two ) . Also is your ribbon cord ok and have you tried the cd rom using the middle connector on the ribbon cable.

    yes, i have used more than one cable, more than one drive, i even used a SATA drive and same thing, not being rude its all in the first post
