    Windows boot crash

I think I inavertantly just destroyed the Windows installation on my pc. I have a gigabyte 965p ds4.
When I installed the gigabyte drivers it installed this raid utility thing, which I assumed that I didn't need, because I'm using ahci, so I de-installed it and now Windows crashes on boot-up, even in safe mode.
Well, I'm not 100% sure if deinstalling the raid utilty is the cause, but it seems to be the most likely thing.
Anyone have any ideas how to recover?

Were you using AHCI prior to installing the gigabyte drivers, or did you switch after installing them? There's a few known issues with using AHCI at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance...ller_Interface

I installed ahci during the initial windows install. I think uninstalling the Raid utilty might have also removed the ahci drivers.

Yep, I would imagine that's where your problem lies. AHCI can be a pain to troubleshoot, but I think you have the nail on the head there. Repair install ftw!

The solution was very simple in the end. I just switched to ide mode in the bios and then I could boot up windows and the "new hardware found" thing came up looking for the missing ahci driver. Then switched back to ahci mode again.
