Please help

Windows refused to boot yesterday. Just stopped half way through. Rebooted. Wouldnt even load in safe mode. Just stopped. Wiped the hdd and tried to reinstall. Xp install stops when i get the page telling me i can repair, install etc. Just stops working.

Unplugged my raptor as i thought it might be that playing up. No change. Unplugged X-Fi and my extra pci sata board. Only thing connected now are the remain sata hdds and my 6800 ultra.

Setup is an av8 deluxe, with a 4400 x2 and 2 gb of geil pc4400 ddr.

Any ideas please?

Sounds like your boot drive has corrupted itself. Or just possibly the ram has decided to fry.

Get hold of Hiren's boot CD, and boot to it. There are lots of tools to test and fix the HD there.

memtest86 the iso version should do you, see if you have a bad stick of RAM

Tried that. ran memtest. no errors.

And tested my raptor using hiren boot disc utilities and no errors detected.

So any other ideas?

You really need to be running Memtest for a good 8 hours before saying that the memory is error free... Also I believe Hirens is *ahem* warez, so you may not be allowed to discuss it here, so I'll point you to http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ which has a bucketload of legitimate disk checking utilities.

You could also run yourself chkdisk /f from recovery console by booting from your XP install CD - that's likely to help.

Well i dont know what happened, but i used a boot disc and managed to jump back into the Windows installation. All up and working again lads. Thanks very much for your help.
