I'm having a bit of an issue with a Windows XP PC not accessing any secure sites; it just sees it as site not found. I've changed the settings in IE, tried it on wired and wireless, tried it on a completely different network, and tried it with firefox, and it doesn't want to play. Any ideas anyone?
Secure HTTP uses port 443, have you any other application set to use that port?
I'm not totally clued up on how ports work, but I *think* only one service can use each port at any given time, so if say a BT Client is listening on that port, HTTPS may not work because the port is being used.

443's the destination port on the server side; the port on the client can be any, so that's unlikely to be the issue (no, you're not talking drivel, just not accounting for the difference between the source and destination ports :) ). If it's not working with ANY browser, I'd recommend doing a complete reset of the IP stack - see http://www.petri.co.il/reinstall_tcp...windows_xp.htm for a good runthrough.
Not going through a proxy or using a firewall by any chance?
We do have a firewall here at work, but every other PC works through it. Anyway, thanks all for the suggestions!Quote:

Rats. Sorry. System restore looks like the best bet.
