    6600gt overclock

Can someone help or advise me after downloading and running coolbits I went to the Nvidia control panel clicked on overclock and before attempting to overclock I saw I was running memory clock frequency at1800MH and 3d clock frequency at 500MHz is this normal as the mem clock seems high, tho I am what is termed a bit of a noob

    I have an Xpert Vision 6600gt, 1.2GB PC2700 ,and a P4 3.0ghz

I have also ran the stress test in CS and got 68fps

If you're using coolbits, just try using the "find optimal" button. It will give you pretty good results normally. The jump into CS and see if you get any artefacts etc.

There is a bug in the latest Nvidia drivers, something to do with the way that they calculate the memory clock timings, it works ok on later cards but not the newer ones. With the latest drivers alot of people have had stability problems, probably because the mem is overclocked so much. The only solution until nvidia fix it (they've known about it for months now) is to go to an earlier driver, I think version 98.x is ok. There are quite a few threads posted on the subject.

Hi Fire Storm I have installed original driver and 3d and mem clocks are back to normal 900 and 500 stress test in CS still 68 fps If you are getting a 6600gt I have read they can have problems with motherboards with sis graphics chipset.
See my other thread on 6600gt driver
