Unsupported pixel shader?

I just installed Steam and tried to play the demo Lost Planet:Extreme Conditions and got this problem

your graphics card only does shader model 2, you need one that does SM3.

Minimum requirements
· Processor: 1.5 GHz
· Memory: 512 MB
· Video: 128 MB
· 400 MB Free space
· DirectX 9.0c
· GeForce 6600 or greater
· Pixel Shader 3.0

if by chance you do have one, driver update?

yeah unfortunately the older ati gfx cards such as the x800, 9800 dont support sm3, you need another gfx card unfortunately

ok wait so if I tried to play another game such as counter strike 1.6 this problem wouldn't occur?

yeah cs 1.6 and hl2 should work fine
