Tiny screws covering laptop RAM - where to get a small screwdriver?

Slightly odd question here... ;)

I took advantage of eBuyers and Googles great offer on 2GB's of RAM for my MacBook. Ordered it for next day delivery and it arrived this morning, perfect as I go off on holiday tomorrow - so all seemed to be going well :)

However, this was not to be and of course a problem appeared - for once not a CityLink mess-up - the rather important issue that the screws covering the RAM slots in my MacBook are so tiny I have absolutely nothing here that can open them. I've tried the set of screwdrivers I got in the christmas crackers - they are small, but, obviously not the best quality and so don't fit.

Apple says I need a size 00 philips, people online say 000 is more likely and what they had to use. Looking at B&Q's online, size 0 is the smallest they seem to do.

Has anyone else come across this problem, and if so, does anyone know where I can find a screwdriver for these stupidly small screws? First-hand knowledge/experience would be great, but, I'll take any suggestions due to the time-issue of leaving tomorrow and needing this RAM!

fleabay. lots of places sell crappy cheap mini driver sets that are great for the little jobs.

Aye, a jewelers/precision screwdriver set is what your need. Very handy to have one when working inside computers - the small flathead ones are great to pry delicate things apart. Any hardware shop should have one.

Poundland have sets of very small drivers if you have one near you.

Innovation with household objects is always fun just make sure what you use won't damage components first. e.g. shorting, static...

B&Q, local hardware store, Asda, Homebase etc.. all only had the size 0 philips screwdrivers. I eventually looked in at the big Tesco's here and amazingly they had the same pack (from the same manufacturer) as Asda, but, with an added size 00 philips screwdriver that I was after. I think I'll just go straight to Tesco from now on.. they seem to have everything :O_o1:

RAM is in and my Macbook is now zipping along - perfect timing for my holiday this weekend!

Poundland do a great jewellers set of small screw drivers. About 15 in there, all metal, for a quid!

Pah, it's no 99p store, where's the change! :p

Push comes to shove you could try somewhere like Boyes or a sewing machine shop. I got my toolset that has everything for PC's at a local computer fair a good few years ago now (even has the end with the star shaped screw). Just check out the local press for dates, usually they are held once a month up and down the country.

christmas Crackers And birthday cards that have a message "i was going to get you a car but could only afford these [Small screwdrivers]" hve a very small set of them in there :)
