new to podcasts

i'm buying one of those cool new Sony video walkman which can play videos on MP4 format i believe. now, i am new to this podcast thing & RSS feeds though ive heard of it for a few months now. my questions are is it easy to download a podcast and uploading it to your walkman/player? and do all podcast are "compatible" with most players?

i use a program called juice:
juicereceiver.sourceforge.net

downloads mp3s to a folder of your choice - then make sure that whichever program you use to transfer music to the device is set to watch that folder for new files. I use WMP, but I guess the Sony software can do the same thing.

Podcasts are just mp3 files (this is not a requirement, as they can be any sort of file, but true in >99.9% of cases), so will play on any device that can play mp3s

is it the same with video podcasts? am i correct in saying they are in this MP4 or MPEG-4 format?
