Im not going mad - i think. Setup for sound is x-fi and z-5500's, sound is excellent but im able to hear the radio over the speakers - it sounds nuts, but its true. Its muffled and in the background - but so bleedin annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? what did you do about it?
Its on on the 6 chennel direct setting, but with the x-fi im not sure how else im going to get the sound to the speakers, grrrrrr :surprised:
Do they have an optical input? If so, try using that?

Had the same issue with some el-cheapo Medion speakers a few years back.

Sounds like a shielding/interferance fault mate.
Check for tightly coiled speaker/line/signal cables mate. Ensure that the socket that the PC is plugged into has a good earth (Will prob need a sparky for this)
I have the exact same problem with my Logitech X-530 speakers.
They pick up foreign radio stations, sounds bit like russian, but only in the evenings.
I solved it for my speakers.
They only pick up the stations when the volume knob on the speakers is set relatively low. So I just set the speaker volume knob high to where the radio stops, and then simply adjust the windows mixer volume down until it makes the sound the right volume.
Try it, it might work for you aswell. (p.s it is quite common for the X530 speakers so if you search google for 'x-530 radio interference' you might get more relevant results than for the z-5500)
This reminds me of when I had crappy Medion speakers connected in my room to my mp3 player. my mp3 player was off but speakers were on. then voices started coming through the speakers. i got really confused and was checking the mp3 player but it was off lol. When i turned the volume knob on the speakers really low, the voices got louder! I listened carefully and managed to figure out it was a fireman talking over the radio about a car and petrol or something. I called my brother and told him what was happening and he said yeah there is a fire engine down the road! Looked out of my window down the road and surely enough there it was lol! Really strange, I thought they would make it really hard to listen into fire-engine/police radios but I did it without even meaning to!
