Ecs Pf5
Hi
I was wondering if anybody has had this problem or if i am doing something wrong.
I have a PF5 Extreme Motherboard which did have 1-ATI x1300 512mb crossfire card installed with 2.5mb main memory and xp home installed. worked all ok no problems, i installed vista ultimate 32bit os and updated all ok. I thought i would check out the version of bios so i could add another ATI card exactly the same as the one i all ready had. And i had the latest version on the main website, added the new card and now i am getting these errors and it wont go into software crossfire using the latest ATI suite.
This is the error under device manger.
Code:
intel(r) 82801g (ich7 Family) PCI Express Root Port - 27D0
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.
I have updated all chipset drivers and even wiped vista off and then reinstalled with xp same problem then reinstalled with vista again and yes same fault again. Now as far as i know those cards should work with the motherboard with the latest bios update but it does not, both graphics cards are crossfire compatible. So i am not certain what to do now.... I have remove all other boards and checked resources and i have loads of resources so i dont know why it is coming up saying not enough resoources left, i disabled nearly everything in windows and put the motherboard in bios into default mode, no change.
thanks in advance even if i am being a noob....

What's your PSU? I think it doesn't have enough power to run the additional card.

It doesn't sound anything like power, what it looks like to me is an IRQ issue, something in the system has picked up the same hardware interrupts and its causing issues.
I'm not certain what bios the ECS comes with but i'd suggest going in and seeing if you can force the system to redo the IRQ's or failing that you may have to change that yourself.
"If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system."
The above piece of information gives me this impression on the IRQ thing.

The thing is now i have taken everything out of the system including usb ports second hdd, fdd, sound card, spare 4x port usb card and external dvd and external sata hdd. but has not made any difference. And i reinstalled windows again with basic settings and swapped around ati cards in slots just in case there is a problem. I have turned nearly all things off in bios so no irqs are conflicting or anything that would get in the way. I have even swapped psu and removed my ups aswell. And this problem only happens when both cards are on main board, i can use either one of them as a single craphics card in any of the graphics slots with no errors at all. So i know the cards are ok, i can only think that the motherboard cannot handle the cards in crossfire mode even thoe ecs say they can.... i have sent another support request to ecs and ati to see what they come back with. thanks for your help everyone....
