    Question Files not sharing

I have an XP SP2 install with various discs with lots of media

I have just built a new rig and want to move the file across.

OK, so I click on the drive J: >sharing > just enable file sharing

So icon for J changes, but noe of the files or folders are shared, I can go down a level and repeat for each folder, but can't share any of the files

How do I apply file sharing all the way down from the root to the files no mater how many folders they are in?

    Thanks in advance

Now when I move the media within the PC (J: to G: colon, each tome I get a warning saying the folders are shared and if I mlve them they won't be - I get this message for each folder moving - option on the pop up are 'yes', 'no' or 'cancel' - no 'yes to all'

    Whats happened?

    Cheers

the J drive would be autimatically shared as a hidden share

you'd get to it with the following UNC path

    \\computername\J$

I can see the J drive and it's marked as shared. I can see it from the other machine as a network place and also a mapped drive.

But when I try to open or copy anything from it, I get a warning sying not accessable or shared.

    Very confused

With XP Pro you normally have to disble simple network sharing before the Security tab is displayed. Go into tool options advanced in Explorer and it is normally right at the bottom of the list.
