New Pc - Switch On Pc & Cpu Fan & Case Fans Come On, But Blank Screen On Monitor

Hi,

I have just recently built a brand new pc.
I have run a range of checks and I think the motherboard is defective.

Spec:
CPU - AMD ATHLON 64 3800
MEMORY - CRUCIAL 2GB DDR 400
POWER SUPPLY - TAGAN TG480-U01
GRAPHICS CARD - XFX 7600GT FATAL1YR
MONITOR - SAMSUNG TFT MONITOR SM940BW

Problem: BLANK SCREEN ON MONITOR

I switch on the pc - i get no beeps, no power led light comes on, but CPU cooler fan, 2 case fans & the 2 motherboard small fans all come on.
The blue leds are flashing on the PCI slots, but not the PCI Express slot 1 where the graphics card is installed.
The graphics card has no additional power connectors.
I have connected the PC & monitor by way of DVI connector lead that came with the TFT monitor.
When I switch on the monitor it asks for analog or digital (this is correct according to Samsung manual). Once I select digital there is just a blank screen.
I have disconnected all the RAM and rebooted the pc, but i get no beeps.
I have reset the CMOS, but still the same.
I have changed the internal speaker cable around, but still no beeps.
I have connected the 4 pin power connector to ATX4P1 socket for graphics card, but still I get a blank screen after selecting Digital on the monitor.

Can anyone help?

If you get no beeps then chances are it is your motherboard that's broke.

Or the speaker is. Doesn't matter which way around the cable is techincally. However it's easy to get the power light cable the wrong way around :p

Could be as simple as incorrect BIOS settings or a short to the case.

What motherboard is it?

take the gfx card out see if u get beeps

If the PC beep speaker is bust, then it is the mobo that's damaged at that speaker is part of the mobo.

The speaker only connects to the mobo its not onboard :)

Hi,

Thanks for your help & I have managed to get the computer to boot up.
It turned out that the 4pin ATX power connector was loose.
