    Question Vista Ultimate Update HELP!

Hey I'm running Vista Ultimate 32-bit on a notebook which is EASILY capable of running it. I've updated Vista on time every time but the last update that I downloaded completely stuffs my system. It stops me from clicking on dialog box buttons whenever a dialog box opens and prevents me from clicking on random buttons and/or icons! I've uninstalled and reinstalled it three times now! HELP! PLEASE!

    Have you tried system restore?

I doubt this is an Update error

i have had no problem with recent updates either and this is a machine that is 3 years old. so obvoiusly didn't comewith vista installed. you sure it is 100% legit if it isnt it sounds like something windows activation would do in reduced functionality mode.

Firstly, yes, it is a legitimate copy. As if I would be so stupid as to complain about a cracked copy.

I called Microsoft Phone help and it turns out that occasionally some antivirus programs can prevent updates from fully or properly installing. The solution? Restart windows with only microsoft start up programs, install the update, then restart the computer normally. Simple, and it works. You don't have to always do it, but bare that in mind if you have a copy of Vista and it starts to muck up after you install an update.
