Is there a link light showing on the network card itself? It could just be a case of a buggered NIC.

the light should be on the port itself if there is no light the nic is buggered. luckily pci cards cost bugger all nowadays.

You have checked the media being the cable right?. I mean if it says media disconnected it usually means the media (cable) is disconected or its a dodgy cable.

What does it connect to at the other end?
Are you sure that end is working?

I used to have a Linksys WAG54G (w/built in 4-port switch) who's wired ports failed to work (the rest of the unit was fine).

Can you test connecting your PC to some other ethernet device?
