    Question Rechargeable Batteries

Does anyone know of a decent set of rechargeable batteries and a charger that can accomodate sizes AAA, AA, C & D (the most common)?

Ideally I am looking for an 'all in one' unit, as I can see various single units that do them more or less individually, but I don't want loads of chargers about the house.

Incidentally this will be mostly for my 6 month old daughter who now loves anything that makes a noise and has lights on it, hence batteries, hence trying to save money.

    I appreciate anyone's suggetions.

If you get a decent set (around 100 or so ) of 2500mah NiMH AA cells, you can get adaptors to fit other cell sizes.

The one from Maplin looks good, I think I might buy two of them.

Incidentally, can you use any charger with any rechargeable battery? For example if I need more batteries in the future can I just buy straight forward rechargeable from any brand or do they have to be the same brand?

    I got one of these
    http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/prod...ucts_id=100598
it works very well - used it on AAs and PP9s so far.

they've got AA 2600mAH x 4 for £3.79 (comes in a case, which is a lot more useful than I thought it would be)
    and 2700mAH for £4.99

Thanks, you've reminded me to get a box load of batteries for the forthcoming Wii and maybe for the heated jacket on offer at Maplin

I bought some sanyo eneloop Nimh batts which have been great. They have a little less capacity but not running out after not using them for 5 days is very useful.

    especially for wireless mice etc.

    http://www.tantronics.co.uk/acatalog/Sanyo_Eneloop.html

Bloody expensive in the UK though.

I'm forever charging batteries for our twins' toys.

I use an Ansmann 8 which I find is ample. It's widely available and probably from Scan too.

Also remember to get a battery tester !!!!

If you're buying both, and some batteries, then sometimes they'll throw in a test for free.
