Desktop microphones

Basically I upgraded my Senn 150 headset to the 595 set and bought a desktop microphone. The problem now is everyone says my voice quality is rubbish. What options do I have? The mic is a logitech digital one - but I can't find anything else..choice seems to be limited. A friend has just ordered a plantronics P151 mic thingy - but it's over ear...so would be awkard to use with a headset. Are there any good quality desktop mics out there - or ones which you can clip to your shirt or somethin?

I use the USB Logitech one, and it is brilliant - a noticeable improvement on the PC130 Senns I was using...everyone on vent was glad I'd stopped buzzing....

I get the exact oposite. Everyone hates my USB logitech :/

If only they made a microphone/headset which you could detatch and just use the mic part over your ear.

Go to control panel, and then select AKXXXX (whatever the microphone is called) and turn off Mic Boost. Should increase clarity

OR, it is possible you got a faulty one?

It's not faulty...I've had one before and people said it was poo then. Damnit.

I've seen a Plantronics P151 which is apparently configurable but I can't find any reviews. Sennheiser has a nice simple over the head Mic with no ear piece...at £300 :/

Check things like hardware acceleration (turn off and see if there's any improvement). Mic boost as mentioned and sound/firmware quality/bandwidth settings depending on what voip software yr using and what hardware you have.

Of course there's always background noise from yr PC which may be interfering with the voice transmission quality.

I got a labtec clip on your tie type mic off ebay a while ago.

Not as good as the mic on my Beyerdynamic headset (which broke), but it's still pretty good.

Only downfall is that it isn't noise cancelling so you can literally hear everything.

But it was only a fiver or so, so worth a shot maybe. Model no. was AM-232.
