Help: Windows random restart.

I recently upgraded my memory from 1GB to 3GB (bought 2GB Corsair XMS DDR2 Twin2X 5400 C4). Well windows was working just fine for about 1 week then the random restarting began. I have no clue what could have caused this sort of problem.

Question: I initially had 2x 512mb Corsair Value Select 5300 C5 installed on my system, now upped to 3Gb, could the problem be Corsair VS being incompatible with XMS ram??? Help...

What speeds are the RAM's?

Also do a Memtest.

Take out the two sticks of 512MB and let us know how you get on.

If it was the memory though you would normally find problems at boot-up. What are you temps like?

Well, both the XMS 5400 ram, and The VS 5300 ram are running 4-4-4-12-15 @266mhz

Take out the two sticks of 512MB and let us know how you get on.

Well it boots up perfectly, but crashes randomly. Sometimes i can use the pc for the whole day without problems. Will try removing both 512mb ram sticls and see if that help. I hope dont end up losing 1gb
the temps seem to range from 45degrees to 55degrees (stock cooler + 1 exhaust, 1 intake).

Certainly pionts to ram, but psu is another thing to cheack. Did you use an anti-static wristband when you did your mem, last time i upgraded i got the same prob and i have since bought myself a wristband.

Yeah, you do have a point, I did wear a wristband (always do). i ran Memtest and it instantly gave me errors. Now Im going to test each module seperately and c which specific ram stick is the culprit. Would switching memory banks help in any way? Another thing, I did not set the timings in BIOS, left it on auto. Should I try that aswell?
