Upgrading gfx cards..
I currently have a ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe motherboard & 7800GTX's in SLi, The cards are getting a little old now and starting to struggle with the latest games.
I was thinking of upgrading to a 8800GTX or even GTS's in SLi i purchased a 8800GTX and began fittin it to find that it covered almost half of the chipset fan.
Is there anything i can do thats not going to cost me alot to fix this problem and allow me to use the 8800GTX?

Ok first question would be what res do you game at, and have you thought it might be your cpu holding you back as two 7900gtx in sli should eat through most games at a sensible res.:)
-
So you got 1 8800GTX? Your motherboard has 2 PCI-E slots, so have you tried the other slot?

You could buy one of these :-

Its passive cooled and designed to do the job you're after ! :)

Well i doubt it's anything to do with the CPU as its AMD FX-57 & as for the resolution thats only 1280x1024.
That other cooler may be the solution im lookin for but not sure if it would fit
-
jeez, 7800GTX in SLI should eat that resolution, what are you playin?

Colin McRae DiRT @ Ultra settings to laggy to play although this is a known CPU/GFX Hog now.
LOTR:Online @ Ultra settings lags far to much to play.
Spiderman 3 @ Ultra settings impossible to play.
Supreme Commander @ Max settings, Known PC hog but still thought i would of been able to play.
The more big title releases that are coming out the less i can play.
-
Ugh. Do you actually enjoy playing those games? You know that most of them are just resource hogs with no gameplay at all.
Anyway, which 8800GTX did you purchase? Chances are that you are going to have to return that and purchase a thinner card. Either that or get a new motherboard.

LOTRO is better than WOW, Colin McRae DiRT is by far the best rally/racing game ever as for the other 2 i don't care for them to much but i got an eVGA 8800GTX so it was a pretty huge thing with the fan on the front.
