Outlook : importing archive .dat instead of .pst

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I recently resinstalled Windows XP on my PC. My e-mails have been stored in a file named "outcmd.dat", located in Documents and settings / User / Application data / Microsoft / Outlook. There is no .pst file in this folder, anf that's the problem, because Outlook needs such a file to import e-mails. Do you have any idea about how importing a .dat file ? If no is there any way to convert a .dat file into .pst file ?

Are you certain you are looking in the right place?.

I'd expect user files to be \Documents and settings\user\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook

outcmd.dat is the file that holds the setttings for outlook, ie view type, window position etc...

do as suggested above and if you can locate the pst then you just need to open it not import it.
