    Severe x1950 pro 256mb Problems

    Hello

I recently purchased a Connect3d ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256mb, and i have been getting some rather unfortunate problems with it.

It runs at an idle temperature of between 45-51c and under full load running games such as Battlefield 2142 at 1680x1050 resolution it gets up to 58-68c

As far as im aware those temps are round about normal and what i should be expecting, however when the card rises above about 60c the card fails, the game freezes, and i get a VPU Recover error saying it has reset my graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to driver commands.

This happens with each and every game i own that makes it rise near or above 60c for more than a few minuites, and iv updated my catalyst drivers several times and the problem remains the same.

I have a suspicion it might be the so called "VRM" units on the board that burn out on cards with the reference cooling solution (as mine has)

A friend of mine purchased the exact same board from a different retailer, and he has experienced an identical problem to what im having.

Is the card truly faulty? Or is there anything i can do to stop this from happening?
