    Unhappy sarah22

I am having a problem with my Mesh Matrix A2800+ which I purchased in 2003. When I switched it on there was an error reported with CMOS before it booted up, therefore I have replaced the lithium backup battery and reset the time and date. However I am getting a voice message when I switch on saying “computer now booting from operating system”, what else should I be doing to correct this, or is iit time to get in the professionals?

It's a bios option you can turn off, I had it on one of my old motherboards..

I can't remember where it is off the top of my head, but it's something like enable audio alerts or something in possibly the chipset menu?

What you could do is download cpuid from here http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php run it, look on the mainboard tab and tell us what it identifies your motherboard as. From that we should be able to track down a manual for your mobo & then find the option you need, if you don't want to go delving around in your BOIS settings

Sounds awfully like the voice reporter on the old ASUS Nforce2 boards.

Anyway, to disable it change the "Speech POST Reporter" option in BIOS in the "Advanced BIOS Features" screen. You'll need to scroll down to the bottom to find it.

Many thanks, problem solved. First time I have changed anything in BIOS, I'm delighted.

Just stay away from anything that has the word "Voltage" in it, and you'll be fine
