    Question RAID swap

    I have a RAID 0+1 setup with 4x250GB HDD on a GA-965P-DS4 with the ICH8R chipset.

If I buy the Gigabyte P35 board with the ICH9R chipset will I be able to access the RAID etc?

My 965P-DS4 looks to have dies and so need replacement fast, I could get the 965P-DS4 again, but should be getting one via RMA. I was thinking of trying top upgrade - but not at the expense of my current RAID disks.

So If I built a RAID on the ICH8R will it run on the ICH9R?

    Cheers peeps

no you wont. you most probably wont be able to access the disk with the new ds4 as the data to control the disk is in the narfed boards cmos

Two further questions - as long as I set the RAID up again on the new boards CMOS - will that work and seconds

If I'm snaffed even with a new DS4 would I be better going for the newer P35 chipset on the DS4?

RAID seems simple until it's not working - then it's really tough LOL
