    Thoughts on this system please?

Okay this is the quotation I've been given, for a system I'm going to have built for me (by someone else):

Base system: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/E6600-CORE-2-D...QQcmdZViewItem + Soprano Case
    E6600...
    4GB RAM 667MHz £60.00 (upgrade)
    160GB HD + 500GB HD (SATA) £65.00 (upgrade)
    Lightscribe DVD+- 20x writers £44.00
    ATI Radeon HD 2400PRO 256MB £35.00
    Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1 £32.00
    Asus 54G Wifi £17.00
    Vista Ultimate £175.00
    Samsung SM206BW 20" LCD £175.00
    Postage £29.99
    TOTAL £1,019.99

My main issue was the graphics card, the one included is very cheap, sales person told me it can use the RAM memory as well when needed.. I think it's best I get a better card.. need some advise on which one to go..

In my opinion it's gone too expensive, but maybe I'm wrong.

Computers main use is movies (lot of them) and bit of gaming! I want my movies to look as good as possible though..!

Now can I have your opinions on where it should be downgraded/upgraded etc... and what you think of the system overall!

    Thankyou everyone!

It seems quite expensive, but if you break down the prices, it seems OK for price.
£44 for a DVD writer is too expensive, that should be £20ish
You may not need 4GB RAM, but it depends on what you are doing, games + playing DVDs you wont need 4GB.
Personally, i don't see why people buy sound cards when most mobo's come with onboard.

The graphics card isn't all that great.
I would go look around scan.co.uk, ebuyer.com, price up the parts and work out what they are taking as profit/build cost.

I work out the same spec but with a quality PSU (which it doesn't look like you're getting) to be £937.21...

Personally I'd build it myself changing the motherboard, dropping to 2GB memory and upgrading to a 22" display and a 8800GTS.

Oh and there's only really any point in PC6400 memory if you're overclocking, in which case you'll need a better cooler too.

way too expensive i'd build it myself if i were you otherwise search for better built systems on ebay, i saw a few with 8800gts going for around 600mark. also dont go for those company builds go for the individuals who have a lot of money to blow and then dont wanna keep them.

    Good luck

The vista ultimate is also very expensive, you should be able to get OEM copies for less than £120 (inc vat)
