    Windows not on C:\ partition

I installed windows with my USB card reader plugged in, and it assigned C,E,F,G to the USB reader, D to DVD drive.
And windows sits on my H: partition.

it's been ok so far, but is this going to cause me any problems?
Can i easily change the drive letter (in comp management/disk manager/"change drive letter an paths")? will it throw off all of my shortcuts and confuse windows?
Is it best to just leave it?

if u change paths you will need to run a windows repair to set things straight again, been there and done that

you could change things manually but theres so many things you would need to change the 30 mins a repair takes that early into an install should be your best bet.

otherwise as far as windows cares H is its home and it should tell most things to install there, just keep an eye out for the odd random install path to C:\

Very nice tip there Gonzo, your knowledge of wading through these troubles really amazes me sometimes. You must have had a hard life

Probably changing system drive letter will cause more trouble than leaving it as is. I think you should leave it mate.

It amazes me that there is no simple way to reassign the system drive letter. Utter madness!

I've not found an easy way to do this to be honest. Tried doing this to XP a few years ago and ended up reinstalling in the end with just the 1 drive plugged in and a re-partition/re-format.
