    Unhappy Hard Drive Problems

    Hi Guys
I am new to this forun but have been reading about problems with returns of Maxtor drives to Seagate, could anyone give me the address of the Coventry depot to send my drive back.
I have tried to do it on their site but they are saying my drive is not under warrenty, I bought it about 6 months ago and I cannot get it to work, it is a Maxtor 7L32ORO 320gb.
I am going to send it with a letter, it's no good to me as it is anyway so I might get lucky with a replacement

That's very strange, my more-than-one-year-old maxtor drive was still under warranty so most likely yours is too? Have you checked your serial no. using their online warranty checker? And if nothing have changed since I returned mine, you don't need proof of purchase if your HDD is still under warranty. Just fill in necessary form at their website and send the drive back to where they told you to, that's it. Usually as soon as they recieve your drive they'll ship you a new one(well refurb in my case). You may be asked to give them your credit card detail tho.(I guess they'll charge from it if something went wrong)BTW, this is the address I have sent my drive back to but I think you should take aforementioned steps before you send your drive back to them. Anyway good luck.

I think maxtor harddrives sold by some retailers (e.g. Microdirect) have the warranty default as 1 year, just contact seagate and they should extend the warranty for you (from the manufacture date, or invoice if you have one)

Maxtor serial number starting with 6 (e.g. 6B300R0) should have 3 years, starting with 7 (e.g. 7H300R0 or whatever) should have 5 years i think

7L32ORO <---I would say it is 7L320R0, may be you input the wrong model number in the warranty checker?

Also DO NOT mail to them without getting a RMA number, otherwise they'll probably just throw your drive away.
