    Grinding laptop drive

Ok last night my laptop drive grinded (literally) to a halt. It blue screened saying something about the page file, it made a nasty noise earlier and thought nothing of it and only when it did it the 2nd time did I start backing it up, although unfortunately, it didn't finish. I think I got most of it though there might still be a few things on there I need.

I've ordered a 2.5" to 3.5" IDE adaptor so I can plug it in my desktop, and hope that it will last long enough to get anything else i need. I daren't turn the laptop on as I fear booting from it will make things worse.

Any other ideas or have I pretty much done all I can?

Pretty much done all you can. My friends laptop did that, he ordered a new hard-drive and used a 2.5" USB caddy to copy the data across. Took a couple of goes on some stuff but it all got there.
